Flight delay compensation
Flight delay compensation in Malaysia
Malaysia pays no fixed cash for a delay. What its code does give: meals, drinks and calls from two hours, and from five hours a full refund or a hotel. Here is what the rules say and a claim you can send today.
General information, not legal advice. Not a promise of payment.
What the Malaysian rules say
- Compensation
- No fixed cash for a delay here. Care and refunds are what the rules give.
- While you wait
- From 2 h: meals, drinks, calls and internet.
- Refund or rebooking
- From 5 h: your choice — a full refund within 30 days, or a hotel and transport.
- When nothing is owed
- Extraordinary circumstances excuse compensation — but a refund in real money must still be offered first.
- Time limits
- Complaints to the aviation authority: within 2 years of the flight.

Where to send a claim
The claim goes to the airline that operated the flight, through its own website or the address it publishes for complaints. Write to the airline first; an authority comes after.
