AirwayControl is built on data that others generously collect and share — community receiver networks, open government data, open map data, and commercial APIs. This page credits every provider the app relies on, and the license each one's data carries.

Live aircraft positions

Aircraft positions come from community-run ADS-B networks: adsb.lol and adsb.fi — thousands of volunteers around the world sharing data from their own receivers.

Contains information from adsb.lol, made available under the Open Database License (ODbL).

Also contains information from adsb.fi, used under the adsb.fi open data terms.

Positions are additionally sourced from The OpenSky Network, a community-driven receiver network operated as a non-profit research association — data © The OpenSky Network, used in accordance with its terms of use.

Gates, stands and airport layout

Precise gate and parking-stand positions, terminal and pier layout, and points of interest inside the airport (such as security checkpoints and amenities) are sourced from OpenStreetMap, either bundled with the app or fetched live from OpenStreetMap's Overpass API for airports not yet bundled.

AirwayControl adapts this data (for example, deriving parked aircraft headings from surveyed stand geometry) rather than redistributing it unchanged.

Flight schedules

Flight data from Avinor — schedules, gates, baggage belts and status for Norwegian airports. Additional schedule enrichment is provided by AeroDataBox (via api.market).

Route database

Callsign-to-route lookups are provided by adsbdb.com.

Aircraft register

Aircraft type and registration are resolved from a Mode S address using The OpenSky Network's aircraft database together with the tar1090-db compilation maintained for the readsb receiver software.

Aircraft photos

Aircraft photos are provided via the Planespotters.net API. Each photo in the app is individually credited on screen as "© [photographer] · planespotters.net" and links back to the photographer's page; photos remain © their respective photographers.

Weather

Weather data from MET Norway (the Norwegian Meteorological Institute), via api.met.no, licensed under NLOD 2.0 and CC BY 4.0.

Precipitation radar tiles are provided by RainViewer.

Vessels (AIS)

Ship positions shown on the map are data delivered by BarentsWatch, via their open AIS API, and originate from the AIS network operated along the Norwegian coast by the Norwegian Coastal Administration (Kystverket). Made available under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD 2.0).
