What EU 261 says

Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 excuses an airline from paying compensation only if it proves extraordinary circumstances (Article 5(3)). The Court of Justice has ruled that a strike called by a trade union of the airline's own staff is not one (Airhelp v SAS (C-28/20), 2021), nor is a wildcat strike where crew call in sick together (Krüsemann, C-195/17, 2018). For flights the airline operated, compensation may be owed by distance: €250, €400 or €600.

For meals, hotel, refund and rebooking conditions, use the delay-by-hours guide and refund guide. The causes guide distinguishes a staff notice from evidence of the cause of a particular flight disruption.

Evidence for this notice

  1. Match the employer. The calendar names easyJet Airlines Limited flight crew in Italy. Keep the operating-company name from your booking; the word easyJet alone does not show why your particular flight was disrupted.
  2. Keep the dated notice and flight message. The national notice runs from 00:00 to 23:59 on 16 October. Save the message that actually cancels or delays your flight as well as the notice; the calendar does not list flight numbers.
  3. Separate the remedies. Describe the final arrival delay and any expenses in your request to easyJet. Its claim guide links to the airline, while the complaint guide explains escalation.
