Keep flight updates on your iPhone Lock Screen

Following a flight often means checking the same few details repeatedly. Has its status changed? Is gate information available? How does the latest update compare with your boarding pass? A flight Live Activity puts ongoing information on your iPhone Lock Screen, making those checks easier to fit into a journey.

First, make sure you are following the right flight

Before relying on any compact update, open the full flight information and compare it with your booking. Match the flight number, route and travel date. If your ticket also names an operating airline, keep that information handy when comparing airport displays.

This matters particularly when you have several journeys saved, are meeting someone arriving from another time zone, or are checking an overnight flight. A clear, current flight selection is more useful than a prominent update for the wrong journey.

Use the Lock Screen for a quick check

A compact view is useful for glancing at ongoing information without repeatedly navigating through a full app. Open the flight's detailed view when you need more context, particularly if a short label or changed time is unclear.

Keep a distinction between status information and instructions. A departure estimate is not a boarding instruction. A gate shown earlier may change. Your airline's messages, boarding pass and current airport information remain important, even when your phone is making updates easier to follow.

If information is missing

Begin by checking whether the same information appears in the app's full flight view. If a gate is absent there too, the source may not have published it or the service may not have received it. If the details differ between sources, check the airline or airport directly before making a time-sensitive decision.

If you need support, describe the flight and date, the information you expected, and whether it was missing from the full app view or only the Lock Screen. Avoid including booking references or other private travel details in public messages.

Plan for the rest of the journey
